The Answers You’ve Been Looking For
FAQs
Can ABA cure my child's autism?
As of today, there is no known cure for autism. However, recovery from the symptoms of autism is possible. It is our goal to maximize your child's functioning across a variety of domains (e.g. attention, visual/spatial, imitation, requesting, labeling, etc.) in order to increase their independence, communication, and adaptability. It is important to remember that autism is a lifelong diagnosis. For many, it is an important part of their identity and should be respected.
How many hours a week will my child need therapy?
Currently, clinicians prescribe dosage of hours based on needs and deficits across a variety of domains. Treatment comes into 2 forms — Focused and Comprehensive. Focused treatment takes about 15 hours a week and is prescribed for those Learners whose deficits are only across a few domains or strictly limited to reducing problem behavior. Comprehensive treatment occurs for 25-40 hours a week and is prescribed for those Learners whose deficits span a variety of domains.
How long will my child have to be in therapy?
There is no clear-cut answer to this question. Time in therapy is dependent upon your child's total deficits and the rate at which they make progress. The Lovaas Institute recommends 25-40 hours a week for up to 3 years, if your child has global deficits and significant problem behavior. Rate of progress also matters. If your child progresses quickly or has just a few skills or behaviors they need to work on, they may be ready to transition out of therapy sooner.
Will my insurance cover my service?
Most insurance will cover ABA services. Please check with your provider to determine eligibility and rate of coverage. We currently have credentialing with HMSA, Kaiser, Aloha Care, and Tri-Care. We are also happy to work with clients whose insurance does not require credentialing.
Do you offer financing options?
Private-pay is an option at a small discount. Please contact us for private payer rates. Caregiver-directed programs are also available. Please contact us for more information on parent-directed programs.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that life happens. We prefer that you give 24 hours notice if needing to cancel session. Cancellations can dramatically set back your child's progress.
What is Caregiver support?
Caregiver support consists of consultations with your BCBA that provide you with the opportunity to be updated on your child's progress, as well as learn about the principles of ABA, techniques to apply these principles, and have an opportunity to practice your new skillset under the guidance of a BCBA.
How often will caregiver support take place?
The amount of time allotted for caregiver support is dependent upon the number of hours your child spends in therapy. Naturally, the more time your child spends in therapy, the more hours of caregiver support you will want to engage in with your BCBA. Typically, support occurs once a week for an hour, but you are welcome to do more if your schedule and financial situation provides for it.
Can others participate in caregiver support?
Yes! We can accommodate other individuals participating in caregiver support. Our treatment strategy is family-system oriented. We operate with the premise that ABA practices and procedures produce the most significant outcomes when implemented across environments and people. Consistency among caregivers is key to success.
