Our Philosophy

ABA is an applied science, which means that we use existing scientific knowledge to develop practical solutions to every-day problems within your child's natural environment. The science of behavior transcends geography, culture, politics, and religion. We operate with the understanding that this premise does not diminish anyone's unique perspective on the world. Our science cannot tell you what to value, only how to achieve those values. We also acknowledge that we live in a world of competing values, and it is our expressed goal to help your prioritize them so that you may clearly see what is most important to you and your child's development. We will do our best to explain what may not be intuitive from a behavioral standpoint, and we will provide support and encouragement every step of the way.

As Behavior Analysts, we do not employ a medical model when working with families. Our interventions encourage commitment on the part of every individual in the child's life, and they are most successful when implemented consistently across people and environments. We know that change does not happen overnight, and although recovery from the symptoms of autism is possible, it is a lifelong diagnosis. For many, being autistic is a central feature of their identity that should be honored and respected. We believe in celebrating growth, big and small, and find that parents can experience more fulfillment and self-discovery in their journey through autism, rather than seeking a destination from it.

"Science strives to achieve unity of fact. Art strives to achieve unity of feeling." ~Stephen Pepper
